ZweiteGPS is a comprehensive GPS logging and viewing application compatible with both Apple Maps and Google Maps. It harnesses the GPS capabilities of the device itself as well as external GPS receivers to provide real-time position display, route searching, and detailed activity trail logging with support for background operation.

Note that:

<li>Continuous use of built-in microphone, gyroscope functions, or background GPS activity can significantly drain the device's battery life.</li>
<li>The application requires devices equipped with GPS functionality; external GPS receivers compatible with iOS are supported. For Wi-Fi only models, ensure proper environment setup for GPS data acquisition.</li>
<li>All displayed screenshots have been processed with an ad-blocking add-on.</li>
<li>Customer support does not include responses to reviews. For questions or feature requests, please use the in-app email form — direct inquiries outside this method will not be addressed.</li>

<li>Background activity logging with pause/resume functionality, including recovery after crashes.</li>

<li>Data management options permit network access control for map loading and reverse geocoding during logging.</li>
<li>Trajectory visualization using color-coded lines based on speed, with customization options and the ability to hide trajectories during active logging.</li>
<li>Orientation display based on device heading or movement direction, with user-configurable priority settings.</li>
<li>Indicators for directional data include a highlight when movement direction is displayed, alongside transparent compass overlays aligned with the user’s heading.</li>
<li>Map interaction features allow manual rotation via two-finger gestures or automatic alignment based on heading information.</li>
<li>Map markers and pins can be freely moved, created via long-press gestures, and linked to additional functions such as generating waypoints, viewing Google Street View, or exporting data to other applications.</li>
<li>Data files can be exported for use in external apps or uploaded cloud services like Dropbox. Local file sharing is supported through iOS Files app or macOS Finder integration.</li>
<li>Status indicators display movement distance and battery performance during background logging activities.</li>
<li>Configuration options include switching travel modes, setting maximum speeds, and enabling vibration alerts upon exceeding predefined speed thresholds (Apple device-specific).</li>
<li>Route search results can be enhanced with weather and temperature data (cached), with options to export route information to files or visualize directions directly within Google Maps.</li>
<li>User interface supports fixing or unlocking screen orientation as per user preferences, in conjunction with system-wide orientation lock settings.</li>
<li>The app integrates URL schemes for external linking and invocation, detailed in the internal help documentation.</li>
</ul>

The application supports import of various formats including JSON (default), KML/KMZ, GPX (UTC and local time), TCX, NMEA0183, IGC, GeoJSON, XML (GeoNation system), CSV (Geospatial map export only), and KingGPS Plist. Importing files involves selecting the log via in-app interface or using "Open in" from other apps to copy data into ZweiteGPS. Exported logs can be converted between supported formats through dedicated options within the app.

The application offers gesture controls such as dragging for map panning, single taps for action menus, two-finger taps for layering map controls, and long-presses to hide views. Position viewing and log previews are accessible via intuitive gestures on-screen elements. These features aim to facilitate ease of navigation and data management during field operations—always considering responsible usage guidelines when operating the device while moving.
